How long does a natural stone radiator take to heat up?
Natural stone radiators take longer to reach the maximum operating temperature than ordinary heaters due to heir heat retention properties. It takes around 20-45minutes for stone radiators to reach their maximum temperature depending on the model type. Once this temperature is reached the stone will store heat, resulting in enormous energy savings (... advantages). Also, due to these properties the radiator will stay warm for around 1.5-2 hours after it is switched off.

How many radiators do I need for optimum heating performance?
Details of the size of an area that each radiator can heat can be found in the Technical Information section of this web site. Please note that while these figures are the result of extensive testing and careful calculation, they are approximate and based on average values. The exact number depends on various factors such as the quality of the room’s insulation, outside temperature, the number and size of windows and doors etc….
If unsure, it is always recommended that a higher power output is chosen for maximum energy savings (...advantages). Please do not hesitate to contact us should you require more information.

Where should I install the stone radiators for optimum heating performance?
Radiators should ideally be positioned to face the centre of the room and be a minimum distance away from the floor, thermostat and furniture. Please refer to the mounting instructions provided with the product for full details. Because of the radiant heat they produce, i.e. the heat is distributed evenly in all directions, the stone radiators need not be placed under the windows.

How far from the floor can the radiator be fitted?
We recommend that the radiator is fitted at least 150-200mm above the floor surface.

Can I use an electric stone radiator in bathrooms?
The heating elements inside the stone radiators are insulated and can be used in rooms with high humidity such as bathrooms. Towel rails can also be fitted for added versatility.

Can electric stone heaters be plugged into the electric socket directly?
Yes, provided you use a suitable electrical plug. But, for better efficiency and use of their energy saving capabilities it is recommended that they are controlled by a room thermostat.

What type of control can I use with electric stone radiators? Can I use a room thermostat or a timer?
Although they can be plugged in directly into the mains, for most efficient energy use it is recommended that they are connected to and controlled by a room thermostat and possibly timer.

Which type of thermostat should I use when installing an electric stone radiator?
Any ordinary room thermostat can be used: analogue, digital, remote-controlled. These are readily available in DIY or electrical shops. Please ensure that the electric current is compatible with that of the radiator/s connected to it. For more information please consult your electrician or contact us.

Where should I place the thermostat?
It is recommended that you place a room thermostat at least 0.5m away from the radiator.

How many radiators do I need if I already have a heater or use it in a room where I don’t need as much heat?
If you choose stone radiators as supplementary heating along with existing heating sources please contact us with details so that we may suggest an appropriate size/ power output.

What is the maximum temperature that an electric or hydronic stone heater can get to?
Electric marble and granite stone heaters operating surface temperature is around 85º-90º C. All heaters were extensively tested on much higher temperatures, meaning that there is no risk of damage to the stone. Hydronic marble and granite stone radiators temperature is regulated by the boiler.

Can I get burnt by touching it?
Although the heaters do get very hot while operating, stone cannot burn you like other materials (e.g. metal) at these temperatures. This is due to the fact that marble and granite conduct the heat slowly.

Can I get a stone sample before I purchase a radiator?
Due to the natural pattern variation in stone, a small sample is not representative of the final product. Because of this, small stone samples are not provided on request.
From experience, should you require a sample, we can to take a photo of the entire stone slab from which the radiator panel will be crafted, and send it to you via e-mail. Please contact us for more details. Alternatively, please contact your local natural stone supplier or stone merchant who may have the samples of stones used in the manufacture of our radiators.

I have a weak wall. Can it hold the weight of a stone radiator?
The weight of the radiator is evenly distributed via the durable mounting brackets and the radiator can be mounted on almost any type of wall. However, if you are unsure please consult your builder or contractor. Should your wall indeed not be able to hold the weight you can choose one of our free standing radiators.

Do stone radiators require any maintenance?
Natural stone radiators require virtually no maintenance provided that the correct installation and mounting instructions are followed. Please refer to the user manual provided with the product for full details. The only requirement is to keep the surface clean from pollutants and to wipe any dust from the surface of the radiator dust with clean cloth when radiator is switched off. Make sure that the radiator is switch off before cleaning its surface.

Can I return the radiators if I do not like the stone colour?
Natural stone patterns may vary and we can only accept returns in the unlikely event that the product is faulty or damaged. Please read our terms and conditions for more information.

Can I dry clothes/garments on the radiators?
No, it is not recommended that clothes or any other material is placed directly onto the radiator surface which is why accessories such as towel rails can be ordered. For full details please refer to the user manual provided.

Are stone radiators compatible with solar power or other alternative energy sources?
Yes, stone radiators are compatible with any alternative energy source.
